Jay grew up in the small town of Santa Claus, Indiana where he enjoyed sports from a young age. Jay’s father, Jack, owned the Cutler & Son concrete business and was also an Indiana State Police Trooper. His mother, Sandy was a part time teacher. Jay has two younger sisters Jenna and Joy. In addition, he has two purebred German Shepards named Zeus and Zoe.

Jay began his football career at Heritage Hills High School located in Lincoln, Indiana. He played offense, defense and special teams and he had the starting role as quarterback, safety and kick returner. His senior year proved to be successful as he led the team to a perfect season (15-0) and to their first 3A State Championship. They won the State Championship by defeating Zionsville, Indiana 27-24. In Jay’s distinguished senior year, he threw for 31 touchdowns, 2,252 yards, had 9 interceptions, 11 rushing touchdowns, and returned 6 kick offs for touchdowns.

Jay attended Vanderbilt University located in Nashville, Tennessee. He attained a degree in Human and Organizational Development in 2005 and also received numerous awards and accolades while playing for the Commodores football team. Jay started 40 consecutive games, was named the ALL-SEC several times and was the SEC Offensive Player of the Yearin 2005. He currently holds 21 records at Vanderbilt University. John Lynch, starting safety for the Broncos, once commented on Jay’s collegiate career by saying “If this guy can take a bunch of future doctors and lawyers and have them competing against the Florida Gators,” explained Lynch, “This guy is a stud”.

The Denver Broncos traded their 15th and 68th overall picks in the 2006 draft to the St. Louis Rams in order to acquire Jay with their 11th pick. Jay began his NFL career against the Seattle Seahawks on December 3, 2006. He became the Broncos starting quarterback in 2006, finishing the year with five consecutive starts. He had an impressive rookie season by throwing 1,001 yards and 9 touchdowns (in those five consecutive starts). In addition, he was the first Rookie in NFL history to throw two touchdowns in this first three starts and also threw for touchdowns in his first consecutive 8 NFL starts. Jay is currently in his third year of the NFL and is the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos.

Jay established the Jay Cutler Foundation after the 2007 football season. He is actively involved with children in the community and is dedicated to helping charities that have a profound effect on helping people who are disadvantaged.
